Metal
Laser engraving and marking of metals
Metal can be laser marked using a fiber laser. In certain metals, the markings can be very durable and high contrast.
Almost all metals can be marked or engraved directly with a laser. Fast and lasting markings are possible on all metals. For specific metals, e.g steel, stainless steel and titanium, extremely durable and high contrast marking is possible.
Applications
- Industrial products can be permanently marked with serial numbers or trademarks.
- Personalization of client gifts or marketing tools
- Permanent marking of stainless products without damaging or changing the finish
Metals suitable for laser marking
Almost all metals can be marked with a fiber laser:
- Anodized aluminum can be marked in great detail. Colored aluminum is the best. The engraving will appear white, so darker colors will work the best.
- Pure aluminum can be marked. The engraving will appear dark gray
- Steel and stainless steel can be marked quickly and in great contrast. Very durable and dark marking is possible.
- Titanium can be processed in the same manner as stainless steel.
- Copper, brass and bronze can be marked with a high contrast. Copper-based metals work in the same manner.
- Coated metals can be marked by removing the layer of paint precisely with a laser.
- Silver, gold and other precious metals can be marked with a laser.
- Round and curved items can be marked.
- Marking and engraving of metals is possible with our machines.
- Cutting of metals is possible with metal sheets with the maximum thickness of 1mm. (max size 170x170mm)
Heat treatment of metal
With precisely targeted heat treatment, a durable and high-contrast marking is achieved under the surface of the material. By heating the material locally, an oxide layer forms and a color change occurs in the material. Only certain metals such as steel, stainless steel and titanium can be heat treated.
This process is well suited for medical products or other applications where hygiene and long-lasting labeling are important. The method is often used for branding or personalizing kitchen accessories.
- Durable and high contrast black markings
- No noticeable changes in the surface, which makes cleaning and hygiene easier.
- Possible for steel, stainless steel and titanium.
- The longer machining time makes annealing slightly more expensive than other processes.
Precise engraving on metal
The fiber laser enables very fine and precise engraving on most metals. Even very small text can be engraved with good contrast.
- Suitable for most metals
- Durable and good legibility for even the smallest details.
- Fast and editable for serial numbers or other text.
