Textiles, leather and artificial leather
Laser cutting and engraving of textiles
Many textiles and leather can be cut and engraved accurately and quickly. Possible materials vary from synthetic to natural textiles.
Possibilities with textile and fabric
Textiles have many different applications. It is possible to cut complex patterns on textile materials and leather with a laser. Even the smallest sewing holes are not a problem. Engravings are possible on some materials.
Synthetic textiles such as nylon and polyester are very suitable for laser processing. The cutting edges are sealed by the heat of the laser and do not require additional treatment.
Applications:
- Cutting of textile products and patterns
- Marking on denim, softshell, fleece, leather paper and other materials is possible for e.g branding and personalization.
- Textiles used in industrial products, prototypes and research.
- Leather products
Textiles suitable for cutting and engraving
- Natural fibers such as cotton, silk, linen, denim and others can be cut easily. The edges tend to fray in the same way as when cutting with other methods.
- Synthetic materials such as nylon, polyamide and polyester allow the edges to be sealed by laser cutting.
- Microfibre, softshell, fleece, leather paper and other fabrics can be cut and marked.
- Felt can be cut and engraved.
- Leather can be engraved easily. It can also be cut.
- Synthetic leather, such as Alcantara, can be cut and engraved as long as it does not contain PVC.
- Textiles containing PVC or coated with PVC must not be treated with a laser.
